A Worksheet That Isn't Generic
Ask for a worksheet on any topic and you will get one. It will be competently laid out, correctly sequenced, pitched somewhere in the middle, and completely interchangeable with a worksheet on the same topic for any other class in any other school.
That is not a failure of the tool. It is exactly what you asked for. You gave it a topic, so it gave you the average worksheet for that topic — and the average worksheet is the one your students work through without much happening.

Getting something better is a matter of supplying the things that make a worksheet yours, and there are only about five of them.
The five inputs that change the output
The misconception you are targeting. Not "fractions" but "they think a bigger denominator means a bigger number." Now the questions can be built to surface exactly that, which is the difference between practice and diagnosis.

The prior lesson. What they already did, in what order, with which method. Otherwise you get a worksheet that introduces a technique your class has not met or re-explains one they mastered last week.
The example bank you actually use. Your subject has canonical examples and your class has shared ones — the thing you did in September, the running joke, the local case. Supply two or three and ask for the rest in that register.
The exam or specification. If your students face a specific assessment, the question wording matters and the generic phrasing will not match it. Paste two real questions and ask for questions in that form.
Where you want them to struggle. The most-skipped input and the most valuable. A worksheet with no difficulty spike is a worksheet everyone completes and nobody learns from. Say: question six should be the one most of them get wrong on the first attempt.
Prompting is not the point
That list looks like prompting advice, and it is not. Every item is a piece of teaching knowledge that already exists in your head. The work is not phrasing the request cleverly; the work is deciding, before you ask, what this worksheet is for beyond covering the topic.
Which means: if you cannot name the misconception, the worksheet was never going to be good, however it was produced. The tool has just made that visible faster.
What to check before printing
Answer key correctness. Check every answer, not a sample, and especially for anything computational. A wrong answer key is worse than a wrong question, because it turns your feedback against a student who was right.
The difficulty curve. Generated sets tend to be flat — five questions of near-identical difficulty. Reorder or replace so it climbs.
Question independence. If question three depends on getting two right, a student who stumbles early loses everything after. Sometimes deliberate, usually accidental.
Cognitive load in the presentation. Too many boxes, too much instruction text, decorative clutter. Strip it. If you are also producing the sheet at several levels, the four failure modes to check for are here.
The last question. Generated worksheets typically end weakly, with more of the same. The last question should be the interesting one — the transfer, the application, the "explain why."
The twenty-minute version
For a worksheet you will use next lesson:
Write down the misconception. One line, on paper. Ask for fifteen questions, not eight, so you have room to discard. Then keep eight, reorder them into a curve, replace the last one with something you wrote yourself, and check every answer.
Twelve minutes, and the output is unrecognisable from the default.
Where the generic version is fine
Not everything needs this. Be honest about it, or you will spend your evenings perfecting worksheets nobody needed.
Routine fluency practice, homework consolidation, cover work for a lesson you are not teaching, extra questions for someone who finished early — the generic version is genuinely fine. It is practice, the point is repetition, and that is exactly the mechanical labour worth handing over.
The effort belongs on the worksheet that is doing the teaching. There is usually one per topic, and knowing which one it is is the part of planning that does not automate.
The test
Before printing, ask: could this have been made for a different class?
If yes, and it is routine practice, fine. If yes, and it is meant to be the lesson, it is not ready — and the missing ingredient is almost always the first item on the list above.
